RIVERSIDE – One person is lucky to be recovering tonight after slamming into a palm tree and their vehicle bursting into flames on Tuesday afternoon. Riverside Fire Department officials said that they responded to the single-vehicle collision at the intersection of Central and Fairview Avenues.
When they arrived the engine compartment of the vehicle was on fire as well as the palm tree. The driver of the vehicle was able to get out of the vehicle prior to the arrival of emergency personnel. The patient was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Central Avenue was closed for several minutes while AMR transported the patient and the firefighters extinguished the blaze.
