ONTARIO – A 28-year-old Ontario man lost his life Wednesday morning following a crash and a brief struggle with police officials said. At around 1:30 a.m. police responded to a single-vehicle traffic collision. The vehicle, according the police, had crashed into a curb and a street sign in the area of Archibald Avenue near Ontario Ranch Road.
The male driver, later identified as Kyle Briones, was located in his vehicle unconscious but shortly after regained consciousness. The apparently impaired driver attempted to walk away from his vehicle and when on-scene police went to aid him he became upset and struggled with officers. Police attempted to restrain the Briones using handcuffs, and he again lost consciousness.
Emergency medical personnel, who were in the area, responded to Briones and transported him to the hospital. Briones was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later. The cause of his death, per the San Bernardino Coroner’s autopsy, remains undetermined as of Thursday afternoon but they believe a pre-existing medical condition may have contributed to his death,
If anyone has any information pertaining to this incident they are urged to contact the Ontario Police at (909)986-6711.
