ONTARIO, Ca. – Authorities are investigating the death of two children as an attempted murder suicide.
At around 4:00 p.m. Ontario, California police responded to the 500 block of East Tam o’ Shanter Street for the report of an unknown problem. When they arrived they discovered two children deceased in the garage of the home. The father was not home at the time of the incident and called 911 when he arrived to find his two children deceased and his wife unresponsive. The mother was rushed to the hospital due to an attempted suicide.
The father of the children was questioned by police and was later released. Through investigation it is believed that the mother was responsible for the deaths of the children. Although the mother of the children is still unable to provide a statement to police, a suicide note was left at the scene to substantiate this belief. The name of the mother is not being released at this time.
A motive for the murder suicide has not been determined by police, but there is information indicating that the mother was suffering from depression. The cause of death of the children will be determined through an autopsy.
This is an on-going investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Ontario Police Department at 909-986-6711 or Detective Jeff Wright at 909-408-1878.
