GRAND TERRACE, Ca. – An Ontario Police Motor Officer was injured in a traffic collision on the 215 freeway on Tuesday afternoon.
At 2:36 p.m., the on-duty motor officer was riding on the 1-215 southbound, south of Barton Road, in the #1 lane of traffic. As he drove around 55 miles per hour, a second driver, a 40-year-old Riverside man driving a 2019 Toyota Tacoma was driving in the same direction, in the same lane at around 50 miles per hour.
The traffic ahead suddenly stopped with little warning causing the officer to be unable to avoid colliding into the back of the Toyota. The collision sent the officer flying off of the motorcycle and into the roadway. The officer’s injuries were minor to moderate and were not life threatening, CHP officials said. The driver of the Toyota did not sustain any injuries as a result of the collision.
The collision remains under investigation, anyone with information should contact Officer J. Hernandez at 909-383-4247.
