TWENTYNINE PALMS – Two died and two were injured in a single-vehicle collision in Twentynine Palms on Saturday afternoon. According to witness reports the white 1999 Ford Explorer was traveling westbound along Indian Trail. The vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed, when the driver lost control near Pearl Spring Avenue. The vehicle rolled into the desert on the south side of the road.
The driver, Yovonne Marie Navarrette, 49, of Ontario and her backseat passenger, David Edgar Garduno, of Hemet were both ejected from the vehicle. When emergency personnel arrived, they pronounced Navarette dead at the scene. Garduno was rushed to Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree where he too was pronounced deceased. Garduno’s wife and one-year-old son were also in the vehicle and were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for the treatment of minor injuries.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation at this time.
A Go Fund Me account has been set up by David Garduno’s brother to assist the family in provide him with the proper burial.
