HIGHGROVE – At one point, threatening up to 40 Riverside County homes, the Opera Fire which started on Saturday afternoon in the Highgrove community is now 60% contained.
The Opera Fire was reported at around 3:43 p.m.in the area of Opera Loop and East Palmyrita Avenue. Within hours grew to over 1000 acres, with the total Monday morning being 1350 acres. At this time, no structures are being threatened. The total response to the fire as of Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. is 20 engines, 6 crews, 2 air tankers, 2 helicopters, and overhead personnel for a total of 150 firefighters.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
