PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – A Palm Springs Police officer suffered major injuries after a suspected DUI traffic collision officials said.
On Sunday, April 28, 2019, at around 10:44 p.m., the Palm Springs Police Officer, was driving a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria patrol car was driving westbound on San Rafael Road. The vehicle was approaching the Los Felices Road intersection. At the same time Thomas E. Cain, 60, of Palm Springs was driving a 2010 Subaru Impreza, southbound on Los Felices Road entering the intersection at San Rafael Road.
While entering the intersection, Cain failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the intersection. The front of the Palm Springs Police Department patrol vehicle collided into the left side of the Subaru. Both vehicles sustained major damage. The officer was rushed to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Cain was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. Anyone with
