RIVERSIDE– A pedestrian sustained fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Monday night in the City of Riverside. At around 9;21 p.m. dispatchers received multiple reports of the vehicle versus pedestrian collision on Jurupa Avenue just east of Magnolia Avenue. When police and fire personnel arrived they located a pedestrian suffering from major injuries. Shortly after, Riverside Fire pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
Witnesses told authorities that the silver Ford Focus was driving westbound on Jurupa Avenue in the #1 lane. As the Focus drove, the Riverside resident crossed the street, outside of the crosswalk, from the south to north side of Jurupa Avenue. The vehicle struck the pedestrian.
The investigation is ongoing, and the pedestrian’s name is being withheld so that family can first be notified.
