RIVERSIDE – A man was struck by a vehicle and the vehicle crashed while attempting to flee the scene on Friday morning. At around 10:10 a.m. The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to the report of the collision at the intersection of Van Buren Boulevard and Jackson Street. When they arrived, they located a vehicle that collided into a tree and a pedestrian. A second vehicle was located nearby with minor damage.
The firefighters immediately began working on the ailing 60-65-year-old pedestrian. The pedestrian was determined to have major injuries. Witnesses said that the vehicle hit the man, attempted to leave, and subsequently collided with another vehicle. The collision prevented him from leaving the scene. The pedestrian was transported by AMR to the hospital in critical condition. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team.
