PHELAN – For many years, residents of Phelan and surrounding communities have had to deal with few internet options. In July 2017, the Public Utilities Commission awarded a company called Race Communications $27.6 million to bring high-speed fiber internet to over 7600 area households in Phelan, Pinon Hills, and Oak Hills.
On Friday, November 17, 2017, residents are invited to a Town Hall and “Gigathon” from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Pinon Mesa Middle School, located at 9298 Sheep Creek Road in Phelan. Residents are encouraged to attend for exciting announcements and The Race “Gigathon”, which is described as an interactive, engaging contest designed to both create excitement and inform the audience.
Details will be provided about the new fiber to home internet project construction and the difference in speed that the residents will be looking forward to. . For more information, visit www.race.com or call 877-722-3833 ext. 602.
