PINON HILLS – A 45-year-old Pinon Hills man lost his life after attempting to cross State Route 138 just east Scrub Oak Road.
CHP officials said that’s a man later identified as Jeffrey Ballard was attempting to cross the roadway outside of a crosswalk when a westbound traveling vehicle struck him.
At around 4:44 a.m. the California Highway Patrol and paramedics from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the scene. Ballard was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident remains under the investigation of the California Highway Patrol.
