Plane Crashes in Riverside Backyard Killing One

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – One person died on Saturday when a small plane crashed in the backyard of a Riverside home.

At around 11:50 a.m. Riverside Police and Fire responded to the report of the crash in the 10500 block of Robinson Avenue. When they arrived they learned that the sole occupant, a male, inside the Beechcraft BE50 aircraft died as a result of the crash. Riverside Airport received a distress call from the plane traveling from Chino to Apple Valley just before the crash.

The four occupants inside of the house were uninjured. Robinson Avenue was closed between Norwood and Chadbourne Avenue for several hours for the investigation. The incident is being investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
