RIVERSIDE – The mother caught on surveillance footage abandoning her 2-year-old daughter at a Riverside Food-4-Less has been identified. Riverside police were dispatched to the store located at 4250 Van Buren Boulevard for the found child at around 5:55 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, 2017.

Through investigation, detectives learned that at one point when shopping mother was contacted by a Good Samaritan with her daughter after the child wandered off. The mother said, “Oh, just leave her. The mother went on to shop without a concern for her daughter’s whereabouts. She paid for her items and left the store without her child.

The child was never reported missing, and when shown the surveillance footage the child identified the woman as “mommy”. The child was taken into and remains in protective custody. On Tuesday, March 14, 2017, the mother was identified as Chiengkham Vilaysane, a 31-year-old Riverside woman.  Vilaysane is seen on her Facebook page with two children, who she identified as her daughters.
She also identifies herself on her Facebook pages as an Assistant Section Officer at the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.  Riverside Sheriff’s Department officials said via Twitter that Vilaysane is not employed by them and never has been.

Detectives said that the woman also goes by the name of “Cindy”.  Authorities are now seeking the whereabouts of Chiengkham “Cindy” Vilaysane. Anyone who knows the whereabouts of this mother is urged to contact Detective Paul Miranda at (951) 353-7945 or pmiranda@riversideca.gov.
