Authorities believe that intoxication may have contributed to a deadly traffic collision on Saturday. At 12:23 a.m.
Deputies from the Yucaipa station responded to the area of Outer Highway 10 and Live Oak Canyon Road for the report of a single vehicle traffic collision. When they arrived they located a silver 2002 Mazda Protege unoccupied.
Through investigation, they learned that Deann Weaver, 32, of Yucaipa was driving a 2002 silver Mazda Protege with a front and back seat passenger in her vehicle.
The three were in the vehicle traveling eastbound on Outer Highway 10 approaching Live Oak Canyon Road. As Weaver approached the intersection, she left the roadway, slamming into a power pole. Weaver called an uninvolved party to pick them up to transport them to the hospital. Kyle Silva, 36, of Calimesa, a backseat passenger was unresponsive and was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he died as a result of his injuries. The front seat passenger sustained moderate injuries.
Members of the Region I Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to the collision scene to handle the investigation. Anyone with any information is urged to call Deputy Henry Reyes of the Sheriff’s Central Station or Deputy Richard Buss of the Sheriff’s Rancho Cucamonga Station.
