Jurupa Valley Transient Arrested During String of Riverside Robberies

RIVERSIDE – A suspect, who is believed to be involved in multiple burglaries and assaults in the Arlanza area of Riverside was arrested on Monday. Pedro Paredes Ramirez, 31, a former Arlanza-area resident, now a Moreno Valley resident allegedly targeted women in children in his attacks, authorities said.

Through investigation, he was positively identified in at least two, if not all, of the recent burglaries and assaults in the area from 2015 to 2016. The first, of six incidents, reported incidents that police believe Paredes-Ramirez may be connected to was on Thursday, August 20, 2015.

At around 4:00 a.m. in the 6800 block of Comstock Avenue, the female victim reported that a Hispanic man, in his late-20’s to early-30’s was standing inside her bedroom when she woke up.  As she exited her bed, the suspect fled, leaving in a 1990’s model white Honda with black trim on the door.

On Sunday, September 6, 2015, just after 6:00 a.m. police responded to the 5000 block of Picker Street regarding the sexual assault of a child. Upon arrival, they learned that the under 10-year-old child was sexually assaulted by an unknown male intruder who made access into the home. The child assisted in details leading to a composite sketch of the suspect who was described as being in his mid-to-late 50’s, dark hair, being 5’7. And having a “droopy” left eye. He also was described as having an accent.

Months later, on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at approximately 4:40 a.m. police received a call of a subject breaking into a home in the 6800 block of Comstock Avenue. The subject gained entry and the victim awoke to the suspect standing inside of her bedroom. When she screamed for help, the suspect fled. He was described vaguely as only White or Hispanic, in his 20’s or early 30’s.

On Sunday, May 15, 2016, Police were dispatched to the 6400 block of Crest Avenue regarding a burglary. Upon arrival, authorities learned that the suspect entered the home and sexually assaulted two female victims. The suspect fled when one of the victims woke up and saw him.

The same morning, at around 10:15 a.m. officers were dispatched to the 6700 block of Green Avenue. This incident was only around 1 mile from the previous incident and was only reported due to damage being done to the window screens. Upon arrival, the two women reported that at around 3:20 a.m. they were sleeping when someone knocked on the window. When they looked up, there was a bright light shining into the window. They looked outside to see a male subject exposing himself. When they yelled that they would call the police, he fled the scene in a white 2000-2006 Chevy Suburban or GMC Yukon XL.

On Sunday, October 9, 2016, just after 3:45 a.m. the police responded to the 6900 block of Adler Place after a mother awoke to find an unknown male committing a lewd act in the room of her juvenile daughter. The suspect forced entry through the child’s window authorities said. The child’s father chased the suspect and was able to provide a suspect and suspect vehicle description.

During the investigation, the suspect allegedly struck again in the 9800 block of Cypress Avenue. The burglary and attack of a woman and her child were broadcasted at 4:10 a.m. When police arrived, the suspect was gone.

Shortly after, at around 4:28 a.m. a citizen in the 6800 block of Comstock Avenue heard dogs barking, went out to investigate, and recognized a vehicle from prior prowler calls in the neighborhood. The male citizen and his cousin located the man prowling about a home where the female residents had been previously victimized. The two residents came out as the suspect was being confronted by the two men. The suspect lunged at one of the females, then fled the location. The two male citizens chased the suspect and attempted to apprehend him. They were able to provide valuable details of him and his vehicle leading to the identification of the suspect.

The suspect and his vehicle, a white early 2000’s GMC Yukon XL were located. Detectives also learned that Ramirez had access to a white late-90’s Nissan Sentra and a white early-2000’s Nissan Altima. He was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for multiple counts of burglary, sexual assault and lewd acts with a child.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone with information about these incidents and can contact SACA Unit Detective Brazil at (951) 353-7121, or mbrazil@riversideca.gov.
