RIVERSIDE – Two Riverside men were arrested after a robbery and assault Tuesday night.
At around 8:40 p.m. officers were in the area of 7th Street and Cranford Avenue in the City of Riverside when they heard gunshots and witnessed suspects running. The officers quickly detained three subjects, one of them who possessed a stolen handgun.
Just after officers made contact with the three subjects, a report came in that a victim arrived at a local hospital for the treatment of superficial wounds to his head. The victim told authorities that three subjects approached him, hit him in the head with the butt of the gun and took his property. When they hit him, it caused a round to be discharged.
The shot fired was later found to have hit a nearby apartment building but did not go through the exterior walls or cause any injuries.
The two incidents were determined to be related and two of the three detained were found to be the suspects. The suspects were later identified as 18-year-old Armando Fiesco-Martinez and 19-year-old Mario Lopez. Both suspects were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and robbery.
