MORENO VALLEY – The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, as part of protocol today announce an in-custody inmate death. The death was that of a male inmate with terminal illness who was admitted to the Riverside University Health Systems in Moreno Valley on May 17, 2016.
Correctional staff from the Robert Presley Detention Center was providing security for the inmate through the duration of his hospitalization. On Monday evening at around 6:40 p.m. the inmate succumbed to his illness and was pronounced dead.
A death investigation was conducted Jurupa Valley Station, Robert Presley Detention Center, and the Coroner’s Bureau. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
