San Bernardino Man Killed in Four Vehicle Collision Involving Motorcycle

SAN BERNARDINO – A four vehicle traffic collision early Saturday morning took the life of a 53-year-old San Bernardino man. At around 5:40 a.m. four vehicles were traveling on the 215 South when the collision occurred. CHP officials said that the collision involved (vehicle #1) a 2015 Honda, driven by a 24-year-old Riverside resident, (vehicle #2) a 2002 Toyota driven by a 42-year-old Gallup, New Mexico resident, (vehicle #3) a 2011 Kia driven by a 21-year-old Apple Valley resident, and (vehicle #4) a 2008 Harley-Davidson.

The collision occurred when vehicle #1 (Honda) went into the #2 lane striking vehicle #2 (Toyota). The force caused vehicle #1 to strike the center median guardrail and spin out of control into the #1 and #2 lanes. The driver of vehicle #3 (Kia) pressed the brakes attempting to avoid the collision with vehicle #1, and was struck from behind from vehicle #4 (the Harley-Davidson Motorcycle). The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and landed on the freeway.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. The driver of the Kia sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to the hospital.
