FONTANA – The Fontana Police Department have been made aware of suspects identifying themselves as fire inspectors attempting to unlawfully steal money from businesses. Authorities said that these suspect do a “visual inspection” of fire alarms, extinguishers, sprinklers, etc. and later send a bill to the businesses.
As described, the business later receives a bill from hundreds to thousands of dollars. The Fontana Police department is investigating the situation and urge employees to ask to see their official city or county credentials, which all legitimate inspectors will be able and willing to provide. Fontana Police Department officials also remind employees and owners not to sign any type of contract or paperwork that this person/people ask you to sign.
