UPDATE: (9:40 a.m.) The suspect is in custody and is being treated at a local hospital for undisclosed injuries. A press conference will be held at around 10:15 a.m. Henry Mayo Hospital reports that one female has succumbed to her injuries, two male patients remain in critical condition and one male patient is in good condition.
SANTA CLARITA, Ca. – Parents are asked to stay away from Saugus High School in the City of Santa Clarita as a result of an active shooter situation, authorities said.
At least five people are reportedly injured, two reportedly in critical condition, after the shooting at the school located at 21900 Centurion Way at around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2019. One of the critical patients required CPR as a result of the shooting, KTLA News reported. It is unclear if those injured are students, staff, or a combination of both.
All schools and offices in the William S. Hart Union High School District remain on lockdown as of 9:00 a.m. on Thursday morning. In addition, Castaic Union School District also placed all of their schools on lockdown. School district officials said that students will be available for pick up at Central Park, located at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road.
Sheriff’s officials said that the shooter is an Asian male student, who was wearing all black clothing. Authorities are aware of the student’s identity and will be conducting a search of the student’s home. Residents who live anywhere near the high school are urged to keep their doors and windows locked.
