HESPERIA – The bail amount for Hesperia Tattoo artist Henry Camarena, 43, of Hesperia was increased from the original $500,000 to $750,000 after a second rape victim came forward officials said.
A 19-year-old female reported that she was raped on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, while receiving a tattoo from Camarena, the owner of Team Art Collective Tattoo, located at 14575 Bear Valley Road. The report was made on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at around 9:48 a.m., the morning after the alleged rape. Authorities investigated the report which lead to a search warrant of Team Art Collective Tattoo. Evidence corroborating the victim’s statements were located and a warrant for the arrest of Camarena was obtained.
Camarena was located on Friday, June 16, 2017, at a home in the 15200 block of Ramona Boulevard in the City of Baldwin Park. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center in the City of Rancho Cucamonga for the Rape of a Unconscious or Drugged Victim. Camarena was being held in lieu of $500,000 bail, until a second female victim reported also being raped by Camarena.
The second victim was allegedly rape occurred on or around August 8, 2016. The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Criminal Complaint states that the woman was “prevented from resisting by an intoxicating, anesthetic, and controlled substance” at the time of the rape. District Attorney’s officials are unable to release the age of the second victim at this time.
Camarena pleaded not guilty to all charges and is scheduled to appear in court for pretrial hearing on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at the Victorville Superior Court.
