PHELAN – A Phelan man was hit and killed when riding his bicycle on Friday, September 15, 2017. The driver of the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado hit the male subject, later identified as Damian Chase Frazier, 26, of Phelan and subsequently fled the scene. Authorities said that Frazier was struck from behind and left lying on the roadway by the driver. He was transported to Desert Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:02 p.m.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Sage Aaron Jones was located several hours later and was booked into the HIgh Desert Detention Center for Gross Vehicular Manslaughter While Intoxicated, and Hit-and-Run with Death or Injury. He is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail per arrest records. He is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on September 27, 2017.
