HESPERIA – Seven were arrested when a report of suspicious circumstances led to the discovery of property stolen during a previous Hesperia burglary.
On Wednesday morning at around 5:00 a.m. deputies from the Hesperia station responded to a motel in the 14300 block of Main Street. The reporting party told dispatchers that three men were siphoning fuel from vehicles that were parking inside the parking lot. The subjects reportedly were taking the siphoned gas into a nearby motel room. When the deputies arrived they made contact with 35-year-old Victor Lozano.
Deputies learned which room Lozano was staying in and found that six others were staying in the same room. Also found in the room was what deputies believed was property stolen during a recent residential burglary. Two stolen vehicles were also found in the parking lot of the motel and were learned to be associated with Lozano and Charles Golonka, 30. A search warrant was served at the motel and the stolen property was recovered. Five other subjects were also detained and subsequently arrested. The other subjects included John Waninger, 21, Joshua Swigart, 39, Maddison Drown, 19, Sara Ortega, 24, and Jody Meyers, 21.
All seven were booked into the High Desert Detention Center for Possession of stolen property. Lozano was currently on felony probation for receiving stolen property, Waninger was also on felony probation for Assault upon a person by any means of force likely to produce great bodily injury, and Swigart was wanted out of Northern California on a no-bail felony warrant.
