Silverado High School Student Arrested for Assaulting Student with Special Needs

VICTORVILLE – A 16-year-old male Silverado High School student was arrested after assaulting a 15-year-old mentally disabled female student on Thursday afternoon.  At approximately 3:30 p.m. Victorville station deputies and detectives responded to Silverado High School located in the 14000 block of Cobalt Road for an after school assault on school grounds.

When they arrived they learned that the victim, who is 15-years-old with a mental capacity of an approximately 4 or 5-year-old child was asked by the suspect if she would like to do homework with him. The victim agreed and according to the Friday afternoon news release, followed the suspect as he led her behind bushes on the outskirts of the school grounds. While in the bushes, the suspect assaulted the victim and fled the scene. A school official noticed the suspect flee and found the victim shortly after.

The teen suspect, who was already on probation for a similar but unrelated assault, was identified and taken into custody.
