One Dead and Several Injured in Perris SUV Rollover Sunday Afternoon

PERRIS – Six people were injured in a single-vehicle traffic collision in the intersection of East San Jacinto Avenue and Murrieta Road in the City of Perris. The collision was reported at around 12:18 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2016. Cal Fire Riverside, American Medical Response (AMR), Perris Police and the Riverside County Fire Department responded to the mass casualty incident.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene where they located the overturned white GMC Yukon XL and six injured patients. Four of the patients suffered major injuries, while the other two suffered moderate injuries. As of 1:12 p.m. all patients were transported by ground ambulances to local hospitals for the treatment of their injuries.

A total of eleven firefighters responded to the scene as well as six ambulances. The cause of the collision remains under investigation at this time, information will be updated as it becomes available.

UPDATE:  A 52-year-old passenger from Perris was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver from Hemet is currently in critical condition. All other occupants, according to Riverside County Sheriff’s officials suffer from non-life-threatening injuries. Alcohol and drug use are the suspected cause of the collision, officials say. The name of the man that lost his life as a result of the collision remains undisclosed at this time.
