WRIGHTWOOD, Calif. – One was killed and the second person fled the scene after a traffic collision on Sunday night.
California Highway Patrol officials said that at around 11:40 p.m. the driver, who remains unidentified, was driving a 2018 Chevy Cruze eastbound on SR-2, just west of SR-138. The driver was driving at a high rate of speed and lost control at a curve in the roadway. As a result, the vehicle crashed into the side of a hill and burst into flames. The vehicle was quickly engulfed in flames. The driver fled the scene leaving the male passenger behind. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The name of the deceased passenger is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin. The investigation is ongoing, nyone who may have witnessed this collision or has information on the identity the of the hit and run driver or victim is urged to contact the CHP Victorville area office at (760) 241-1186.
