CORONA – A suspicious package located at the Veterans Memorial near City Hall caused evacuations on Tuesday morning officials said. At around 11:40 a.m. a newer looking black duffel bag was located wedged between the kiosk and a building near the south entrance.
The Corona Police were called and they requested assistance from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Hazardous Device Team (HDT). As a precaution the city employees were evacuated from the city hall offices while the contents of the duffle bag were being identified.
At the completion of the HDT investigation they determined that there were not any hazardous materials or devices and the area was safe. The employees were allowed to re-enter the building at around 3:30 p.m.
