HESPERIA – A home-invasion robbery suspect was shot by the homeowner as he entered the Hesperia home on Monday night. Just before 9:40 p.m., suspect Andres Sanchez, 18, of Hesperia, forced open the door at a home in the 7200 block of Kern Avenue in the City of Hesperia. The male homeowner, who was home with other residents, including four juveniles, approached the doorway and confronted Sanchez as he entered the home. The homeowner called 911 and armed himself.
For reasons still undetermined the incident led to shots being fired at the suspect and striking him multiple times in his upper body. Deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene. Sanchez was airlifted to Loma Linda Medical Center in critical condition. The homeowner suffered only minor injuries and did not require medical transport. None of the other residents were injured. The firearm used was recovered at the scene. The investigation is ongoing as detectives process the scene and conduct witness interviews. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Brian Waterhouse at the Hesperia Station.
