TEMECULA – The holidays bring on a multitude of feelings; some happy, some sad, some anxious, and for some financial concerns. A Temecula mother had some financial concerns, but received a special gift while at work on Christmas day.
Breanne Minton, 27, the mother of a 3-year-old daughter and who is now expecting a second daughter in April, has worked for T.G.I. Friday’s in Temecula for nearly 8 years. She said that a couple of weeks ago she felt ill as a result of her pregnancy and had to take a few days off. This, coupled with Christmas caused her some stress as far as regular bills were concerned. “Serving isn’t my idea of a career but it works for us for right now in our lives,” said Minton. “With being a waitress comes working holidays which unfortunately most people think we get holiday pay, which we don’t, so our tips are generally less.”
Minton was scheduled to work on Christmas day, and that afternoon a couple gave her what she calls a “Christmas miracle” when paying for their meal. On the “tip” section, they wrote out a tip for $200. Minton said she has seen stories of this type of thing happening before, but she never experienced it until now. “ To the couple who did this for me today I hope you truly truly understand the appreciation and gratitude I have towards you both,” Minton said in a Facebook post. “What you didn’t know is two weeks ago I was so sick from my pregnancy, I missed two days of work and became anxious over bills after Christmas. This covered that!”
The gift, from the unknown couple, is something the young mother said she will never forget. “ I just pray one day I can do the same for someone else.”
