THERMAL – A male pedestrian was struck and killed on Saturday morning while trying to alert a driver of downed power lines on Harrison Street, south of 78th Avenue. At around 8:30 a.m. a 60-year-old Thermal man was driving a 2000 Ford F-150 northbound on Harrison Street, approaching 78th Avenue.
A 40-year-old man, also from Thermal, was in the roadway attempting to alert the driver of a power pole fire that was caused by downed power lines ahead. The driver attempted to avoid the pedestrian but lost control striking the man. The male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver uninjured driver remained at the scene.
Although the collision remains under investigation, alcohol and/or drugs are not a suspected factor in the collision.
