BLOOMINGTON – A Bloomington mother and her three children were struck by a vehicle while on the sidewalk taking a walk.
On Sunday, June 24, 2018, at around 8:35 p.m. the mother, Maria Luna Jauregui, 49, and her three children, Angel, 20, Jose Manuel, 17, and Andrea, 14,all of Bloomington were walking on the north sidewalk of Slover Avenue, east of Locust Avenue. As they were walking on the sidewalk, a Dodge Challenger driven by Leonardo Bravo, 19, of Bloomington was traveling eastbound on Slover Avenue, just east of Locust Avenue at a high rate of speed and veered out of control striking Maria, Angel, Jose Manuel, and Andrea. Maria sustained moderate injuries, but her three children died as a result of the collision.
Maria was rushed to Arrowhead Regional Hospital for treatment of her injuries. A Go Fund Me account has been set-up to assist the family with the costs associated with this unexpected loss. According to the Go Fund Me account, Angel was heading into his junior year at Cal Poly Pomona for Computer Engineering, Jose Manuel wanted to do the same, and Andrea was preparing for her first year in high school.
The driver of the Dodge remained at the scene throughout the investigation. CHP officials said that alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
