TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. – San Bernardino County Firefighters were dispatched to a fire at a hardware and lumber store on Wednesday.
At around 6:48 p.m., fire officials received the reports of the commercial structure fire at Builder’s Supply in the 6000 block of Adobe in 29 Palms. While en route, still blocks from the destination c a large column of smoke and fire could be seen. Within 5 minutes of the report, a Medic Engine arrived and witnessed heavy fire to the rear of the moderately sized store. As the crews gained access to the roof, they found an active fire in the rear portion of the attic. Ventilation holes were placed in the roof to assist firefighters inside during fire attack and clearing smoke while searching for potential occupants.
Firefighters conducted a primary search that was all clear of any victims. The fire was knocked down within around 40 minutes. The contents in the business was saved despite the significant damage to the patio, attic space and rear of the buildings. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
Damage estimates are still being evaluated. The cause of the fire is under investigation by County Fire’s Office of the Fire Marshal. There is no preliminary cause available as of this posting.
