VICTORVILLE – A Victorville woman and a Hesperia man were arrested after nearly running over a sergeant, two deputies and an Explorer Scout on Monday night.
At around 9:12 p.m. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s personnel from the Victorville station responded to a traffic collision on Bear Valley Road. As they were making contact with those involved in the collision they were notified by another deputy that a vehicle was heading in their direction at a high rate of speed. “They were able to narrowly escape being hit by the vehicle, as they ran from their location,” said Victorville Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez.
The driver of the vehicle led deputies on an approximately 3-minute pursuit prior to the suspect vehicle crashing into the fence of a home on Lindero Avenue near Balsam Road. Three occupants, two males, and a female driver exited the vehicle and fled through yards on foot. Multiple patrol units and the Sheriff’s helicopter responded to the scene to search for the occupants of the vehicle.
The driver, 26-year-old Esther Alvarez was located nearby hiding under a vehicle. She was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon. The passenger who was in the front seat of the vehicle, 39-year-old Santos Aguilera was also taken into custody at the site of the crash and was arrested for violating parole. A second male passenger was not located.
