PALM DESERT – Bicycle theft is a major concern in the Palm Desert area, with these thefts occurring enough for authorities to conduct a Bicycle Bait Program. On Friday, September 8, 2017, the Palm Desert Business District Team and Special Enforcement Team conducted the operation in hopes of apprehending those responsible for the thefts. Businesses where these thefts previously occurred was where the operations took place.
Two suspects were arrested as a result of the Bicycle Bait Program. Brian Madigan, 33, and John Mahaffey, 29, were involved in the grand theft at the location in the 73600 block of Highway 111, in the City of Palm Desert. Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio for grand theft and conspiracy.
