BARSTOW – Two Barstow men were arrested for the murder of a Barstow transient who was found deceased in the area of Hwy 58 and Dixie Road earlier this month.
The body of 30-year-old Jaime Hernandez was located on Wednesday, September 6, 2018. Homicide investigators responded to the scene to investigate. Through investigation, Vaa Alaimalo, 25 and Nicholas Yarbrough, 28, were identified as the suspects involved in the murder of Hernandez. On September 10, 2018, Yarbrough was located and taken into custody. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center. He is being held without bail. Two days later, on September 12, 2018, officers from Phoenix Arizona conducted a records check on the vehicle parking in a motel parking lot. The vehicle was learned to belong to Vaa Alaimalo. The Phoenix SWAT Team responded to the motel and took Alaimalo into custody. Alaimalo will be extradited back to California to be booked for the murder of Hernandez.
The investigation revealed the suspects and the victim were known to each other. The motive is unknown at this time.
