SAN BERNARDINO, Ca. – Two children, one from San Bernardino and the other from Ontario were killed as a result of a traffic collision, officials said.
On Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at around 3:23 p.m. a traffic collision occurred near 18th Street and Sierra Way in the City of San Bernardino. A female driver was heading southbound on Sierra Way. A motorcycle was also riding southbound on Sierra Way a short distance behind the car. Jason Castellanos, 14, of San Bernardino was crossing Sierra Way at 18th Street and was struck by the vehicle. The vehicle was then struck by the motorcycle, causing the two on the motorcycle to be ejected.
The motorcycle rider a 20-year-old male his passenger, 10-year-old Heather Durham, of Ontario all sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. All three were transported to the hospital where Jason Castellanos and Heather Durham died as a result of their injuries. The 20-year-old motorcycle rider is in critical but stable condition. The driver of the car was not injured as a result of the collision.
The family of Jason Castellanos is seeking donations through Go Fund Me for any expenses associated with his unexpected death.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
