SAN BERNARDINO – Two dogs were shot and killed during the execution of a drug-related San Bernardino search warrant on Tuesday morning. At around 6:30 a.m. detectives from the Central Station and the Gang Enforcement unit arrived in the 6900 block of Tippecanoe Avenue to search three residences all located on the same property.
As the detectives approached the home, two dogs, described by sheriff officials as vicious lunged toward the deputy causing him to shoot at the dogs, who both died at the scene. During the search of the homes, narcotics in packaging consistent with narcotics for sale were found in a shed area, that had been illegally converted into a bedroom where 50-year-old Gary Finch was sleeping. Finch was arrested and booked into jail for possession of a controlled substance for sale.
In the apartment belonging to Ilene Jarmillo, 33, Krista Hernandez, 32, and Desiree Martinez, 33, detectives located narcotics that were apparently for personal use and a .22 caliber gun. Hernandez and Martinez were both found to be felons, who are not allowed to possess firearms. All three were booked into the county jail for possession of a controlled substance while armed and felon in possession of a firearm.
The final apartment searched belonged to brothers, Daniel and Leonel Collras. Marijuana and prescription pills were found in the apartment. Leonel is on felony probation and found to be in violation of his probation. He was booked into jail for violation of probation and possession of prescription pills belonging to another person. All three residences were inspected and found to have several safety violations. No injuries to law enforcement
