LOMA LINDA – A 60-year-old San Bernardino man and 31-year-old Bloomington man were arrested after attempting to cash a forged check on Thursday.
Loma Linda Police with the assistance of the Sheriff’s helicopter responded to the report in the 25200 block of Redlands Boulevard in the City of Loma Linda. Authorities said that Charles Manion, 60, went into the business and attempted to cash the forged check in the amount of $1000. The forged check was reported to authorities and when deputies arrived, they detained Manion.
Luis Montano, 31, was inside the vehicle waiting for Manion to complete the transaction, but when he saw deputies he fled on foot through the residential neighborhood. Deputies set up a perimeter to search for Montano, shortly after he was located and detained. During a search of the suspect vehicle, deputies located more than 100 additional checks belonging to numerous other victims.
Manion and Montano were both booked into the Central Detention Center for Forgery.
