BARSTOW – Two men were injured after being involved in an altercation in Barstow on Thursday morning.
At around 9:00 a.m. deputies from the Barstow Station responded to the 36000 block of Hayward Avenue for the report of a stabbing. When they arrived at the location, they located two men suffering from substantial stab wounds. Through investigation, they learned that the victim and Alexander Monahan, 23, of Barstow were arguing. The argument escalated and Monahan attacked the victim.
Monahan produced a knife and the two struggled, causing serious injuries and cuts to both the victim and suspect Monahan. The victim was taken to Urgent Care for sutures. Monahan was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and was treated for a leg wound at Barstow Community Hospital before being booked into the High Desert Detention Center. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Monday afternoon.
