LAKE SILVERWOOD – At around 3:30 p.m. the San Bernardino County Fire Department and CalFire responded to the report of a possible drowning at Lake Silverwood Wednesday afternoon.

Upon arrival at the Lake Silverwood State Recreation Area, County fire officials determined that there were two patients possibly in need of rescue near Cedar Springs Dam. One patient was rescued by state park rangers prior to emergency personnel arrival but a second patient remained missing.

After searching, the second patient, 28-year-old Hesperia resident, Theodore Olson, was located submerged in the lake.  CPR was administered on  a mid-20’s patient who was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional in grave condition. Olson was pronounced deceased at the hospital shortly following his arrival.

The first victim was in stable condition and transported to Desert Valley Medical Center.
