MORENO VALLEY – Two suspects were arrested for pointing a high-powered laser device at a Sheriff’s helicopter Friday evening. The helicopter was patrolling over the city of Moreno Valley when the cockpit was illuminated several times. The laser device was determined to be approximately one mile away.
Ground units we called to assist while the helicopter crew helped them to locate the suspects, who were found to be near Heacock Street and John F. Kennedy Drive. The suspects, Fernando Flores, 30, and Jesus Ceniceros-Acosta, 33, both of Perris were found to be in possession of a laser pointing device capable of casting a beam of light approximately 1.5 miles.
Flores and Ceniceros-Acosta were booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center. Anyone with further information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Moreno Valley Police Department at 951-486-6700.
