YUCCA VALLEY – Two La Contenta Middle School students were transported to the hospital after consuming marijuana brownies authorities said.
On Wednesday morning at around 9:21 a.m. Morongo Station deputies responded to the Yucca Valley school for the report of a student possibly suffering from a drug overdose. Deputies learned that the boy brought a marijuana brownie to school and shared it with a female student. The school staff noticed that the students were acting as though they were under the influence of drugs. The school principal was notified and called paramedics, who transported both students to the hospital for evaluation and they were subsequently discharged.
Authorities learned that the male student had access to 36-year-old Timothy Baker’s marijuana and marijuana brownings. Baker was located at the home where around 2 pounds of marijuana and several marijuana brownies were found. The marijuana was within easy access of children, posing a possible risk to the safety of children.
Baker was arrested and booked at the Morongo Jail for child endangerment, with a $100,000 bail. Child and Family Services responded to the residence and took two children into custody.
