HESPERIA – A female adult pedestrian lost her life following a vehicle versus pedestrian collision on Wednesday.
On October 10, 2018, at around 7:40 p.m. deputies from the Hesperia Station and emergency medical personnel responded to Main Street West of Third Avenue for the report of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision. When they arrived they found the woman down in the roadway suffering from traumatic injuries. The adult male driver of a Ford F1150 pickup truck remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision. The woman was rushed to Desert Valley Hospital, where despite life-sustaining efforts, she died as a result of her injuries at around 8:19 p.m.
An investigation was conducted at the scene which determined that the woman was crossing Main Street outside of the marked crosswalk when she was struck by the eastbound traveling truck. The driver of the truck stopped and remained at the scene throughout the investigation. The name of the female pedestrian has not yet been released so that family could first be notified. Main Street was closed in both directions from Third Avenue to Fifth Avenue until around 9:30 p.m. while investigators processed the scene. At this time, alcohol and speed do not appear to be a factor in the collision and the driver involved was released from the scene.
The collision remains under investigation and any witnesses are asked to contact Deputy Eric Getts or Sergeant Doug Hubbard from the Hesperia Station.
