HESPERIA – A 31-year-old Victorville man was arrested for the theft of mail in Hesperia, Apple Valley and Victorville authorities said.
On Saturday, December 16, 2017, at around 10:27 p.m. a citizen in the area of Bangor and I Avenues in the City of Hesperia noticed a man, later identified as Marco Valdovinos, in a vehicle going through the neighborhood going through mailboxes.
The citizen followed the gold-colored vehicle as the communicated with Sheriff’s Dispatch regarding the location of the vehicle. When Valdovinos noticed that he was being followed and tried to lose the good Samaritan by turning off his vehicle lights and fleeing the area. He continued to follow Valdovinos to Juniper Street and Third Avenue, where Valdovinos stopped and fled on foot.
Ground patrol units and aerial units arrived to search for Valdovinos who was located hiding under tumbleweeds in a dirt alley north of Juniper Street. He was detained without further incident. He was also found to be on Federal Probation and was wanted on an outstanding US Marshal’s Federal Probation violation warrant for smuggling aliens.
Deputies searched the gold Toyota Corolla and located U.S. mail and packages, many being from Bangor Avenue and other addresses in the Hesperia, Victorville, and Apple Valley. Also located was numerous California identifications, social security cards, gift cards, passports, vehicle titles, money grams, checks and blank checks belonging to numerous different victims. He was also found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.
Valdovinos was arrested for Theft by use of Access Cards, Possessing 10 or more Personal Identifying Information and for his US Marshal Federal Probation violation warrant. Valdovinos was booked at the High Desert Detention Center.
