VICTORVILLE, Ca. – A 22-year-old man was arrested for the sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl, authorities said.
On Monday, February 17, 2020, deputies from the Victorville station responded to the area of Amargosa and La Mesa Roads for the report of a two-vehicle collision involving multiple subjects. When they arrived they made contact with the driver of the tan SUV and learned that the driver was following the 2002 Mitsubishi. The two vehicles collided, one driver by Lesean Dawayne Welch, of Victorville, fled from the 2002 Mitsubishi on foot. The driver of the SUV was the parent of a 12-year-old girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted by Welch.
Deputies located Welch a short time later at the Chuck E. Cheese located on Amargosa Road. He was detained without incident and was booked at the High Desert Detention Center for lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14. “Through further investigation, deputies learned of another possible victim,” said Victorville Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez in a written statement. “The other possible victim is a 12-year old female, whom is believed to be living in a vehicle with her family in the High Desert.”
Anyone who may know of any other victims are urged to come forward with any information. Welch is known to frequent the Cities of Victorville and Adelanto. He may be driving a red or orange-colored 2002 Mitsubishi sedan during the other crime(s). Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact Detective D.
