VICTORVILLE, Ca. – A Victorville man was arrested for multiple crimes including robbery, burglary and the possession of a controlled substance for sale.
On April 22, 2020. At around 9:34 a.m., authorities received the report of petty theft at a CVS Pharmacy in the area of Bonanza and Petaluma Roads in the City of Victorville. The caller told dispatchers that the male subject had just left the store.
A deputy arrived and while investigating, two other robberies occurred at the Circle K on Mojave Drive and Dollar General on Palmdale Road. The deputy put out a “Be On the Look Out” (BOLO) for the dark-colored Mazda MZ6 that was reportedly the suspect vehicle. The vehicle, according to Sheriff’s officials, had stolen license plates attached to the vehicle. The suspect was described as a white adult male. A second deputy saw the BOLO information and contacted the investigating deputy with information about the suspect who he believed had robbed and burglarized Ingles De Restoration Church.
The deputies believed that all of the crimes were committed by the same suspect. :
During the robbery, the suspect had been confronted by someone at the church. “He brandished a pry bar in an aggressive manner leading the victim to fear for his safety,” said Victorville Police Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. “After a short physical altercation, the victim wrestled the pry bar away from the suspect, and the suspect fled. Jeremy Thomas Stephens, 31, of Victorville, was identified as the suspect. Stephens was located near Bonanza and Petaluma Road where he had been staying. Over $3900 in stolen items from the crimes were found in his vehicle and trailer home. In addition, deputies located suspected methamphetamine and paraphernalia associated with the sales and use of narcotics.
Stephens was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for robbery, burglary, possession of a controlled substance for sale, retail theft, transportation of a controlled substance, retail theft with intent to sell, and forging/altering vehicle registration.
