VICTORVILLE, Calif. – A 19-year-old Victorville man was arrested after attempting to rob a victim who arranged to meet with him for an OfferUp transaction.
On Saturday, March 16, 2019, the victim and Dajuan Bocage decided to meet in the 14600 block of Mesa for Bocage to purchase a phone the victim was selling. Upon meeting, Bocage brandished a knife and ran off with the victim’s cell phone. “The victim followed the suspect to the alleyway behind the 14700 block of 7th Street, where there was an unoccupied vehicle running,” explained Victorville Sheriff’s Station Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. “When the suspect saw the victim, he dropped the phone near the empty vehicle and continued to flee on foot.”
Deputies arrived and conducted an investigation in the alley where the vehicle was parked. The unoccupied vehicle was in the process of being towed when the suspect returned. He asked the deputies why his vehicle was being towed. The suspect was positively identified by the victim and Bocage was subsequently arrested for robbery. He was booked at the High Desert Detention Center and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
