VICTORVILLE, Calif. – A Victorville man was arrested after driving under the influence of alcohol with his 4-year-old son in his vehicle.

On Sunday, February 24, 2019, at around 6:25 p.m Victorville Station deputies responded to Hesperia Road near Cherry Hill Drive for the report of a traffic collision. When deputies arrived they learned that Kevin Hernandez-Giron, 27, was driving a 2004 Honda Accord north on Hesperia Road. He approached the Cherry Hill Drive intersection but failed to stop at the red light causing him to veer into the southbound lanes of Hesperia Road.

The Honda struck a 2018 Chevy Cruz, which was stopped at the red light. The Honda continued on for a short distance before striking a 2003 Nissan Frontier. “It was determined Hernandez-Giron, who had his 4-year old son and another adult male in his car at the time of the collision, was driving under the influence of alcohol,” said Victorville Sheriff’s Station Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. “He was arrested and booked at HDDC for child cruelty and DUI alcohol.”

The driver of the Cruze and a 3-year-old child passenger in the Cruze were transported to the hospital; the driver for complaints of pain and the child as a precaution. No other injuries were reported as a result of the collision. Hernandez-Giron remains behind bars and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, February 26, 2019.
