VICTORVILLE – A 53-year-old Victorville man was arrested for the rape of a 12-year-old runaway on Friday authorities said.
On Thursday, March 23, 2017, deputies responded to the St. Mary’s Hospital in the Town of Apple Valley to interview a female juvenile who had reported a rape. The girl was reported as a runaway from the Phelan area on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. She told her parents and the investigating deputy that a male suspect, later identified as Armando Padilla picked her up.
Padilla took the victim to his Victorville home in the 10400 block of Maricopa in the City of Victorville. While at the home he gave her something to drink and sexually assaulted her. The girl was able to escape from the home.
A search warrant was obtained and served at Padilla’s Victorville home on Friday evening at around 7:30 p.m. During the search detectives found clothing that belonged to the victim as well as other evidence corroborating the rape. Padilla was arrested and is being held without bail at the High Desert Detention Center. He is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court for an arraignment hearing on Tuesday afternoon.
