VICTORVILLE – A 31-year-old man was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and harm to an elder or dependent adult on Wednesday. The incident began when police were dispatched to a home in the 12400 block of Durango Place just before 10:00 a.m.
“Raul Sandoval was upset because he believed the victims were taking money from him,” said Victorville Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. “Initially, the altercation was verbal but quickly escalated.”
One of the victims was a 65-year-old man with medical conditions attempted to stop the fight. As he intervened, Sandoval hit the man in the arm with a heavy object. Sandoval chased several others through the house and yard with a baseball bat. When deputies arrived they located him in the front yard.
“It does not appear that he required or requested medical treatment,” said Rodriguez. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center and is being held in lieu of $50,000. Sandoval is scheduled for an arraignment hearing at the Victorville Superior Court on Thursday afternoon.
